George B. Boedecker, Jr., and the Boedecker Foundation

After taking a campus tour, Denver entrepreneur and principal founder of Crocs, Inc., George B. Boedecker, Jr., decided on the spot to make an initial gift to help establish the Boedecker Foundation Cardiac Rehabilitation Gym at University of Colorado Hospital. With an additional gift, George and the Boedecker Foundation helped establish the George B. Boedecker, Jr. and Boedecker Foundation Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine. His generous personal investment, combined with significant gifts from the Boedecker Foundation, makes an impact across campus, supporting patient cardiac rehabilitation at UC Hospital, research in the CU School of Medicine Department of Cardiology and faculty in the CU Division of Emergency Medicine.

The Boedecker Foundation Cardiac Rehabilitation Gym provides valuable resources for regional patients. George said, “This facility is so great for the team and it’s great for our community. I always said that it doesn’t make sense, with the intelligence and talent that we have on the Front Range, that people would go elsewhere for care.”

More than 50 patients are seen at the state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym each and every day, regaining essential cardiac health after overcoming serious cardiac conditions. The facility was renamed in the Boedecker Foundation’s honor in early 2014.

Within the CU Department of Emergency Medicine, the named faculty chair will provide valuable resources to attract and retain the world’s finest physicians, and continue groundbreaking research in emergency medicine.
